In 2004, there were 3,077 licensed home inspectors in Texas.
In 2005, there were 4,037.
Why did the number of inspectors increase by 24% in one year?
Simple. Effective January 1, 2006, it became as difficult to become an inspector as it always should have been, so the lazy / unqualified / incompetent / inexperienced novices rushed to beat the deadline.
So, now, one in four inspectors has
very limited experience & would likely fail to qualify under the current, more stringent licensing requirements. (What you hear is the quiet sound of desperation.
Sigh.)
I’m willing to bet that if you call around, you will find some incredible bargains being offered. Actually, one in four inspectors should pay YOU for the opportunity to learn (i.e.: make mistakes) in YOUR house.
All I can say is, my competitors probably have a much better idea of what their skill is worth than I do, & they obviously charge accordingly.

You get the idea… I charge what I’m worth; no more, no less, just as any professional should. Having reviewed the reports of other inspectors, with few exceptions I’d say that whatever the inspector was paid, the client got ripped off.
As my client, you and your house will have my full attention for as long as it takes to get the job done right. My repeat business / referral ratio tells me that my fee is reasonable and that my clients are satisfied.
